Welcome to my reading nook — where stories unfold beside a crackling fire and time is measured in chapters, not minutes. Here, I share the books I’m currently exploring: the strange, the romantic, the dangerous, and the beautifully written. Whether it’s a haunting audiobook or a well-worn paperback, this is where I keep track of what’s captured my imagination lately.

Daughter of the Blood by Anne Bishop

“In a world ruled by dark magic and powerful jewels, a girl is coming into her power—and everyone knows it.”

Progress: About halfway

Initial Thoughts: Haunting worldbuilding, tangled power systems, and a protagonist I’m still trying to figure out. It’s mystical and mature, with just the right amount of dread.
🎧 Audiobook

Voice Like a Hyacinth by Mallory Pearson

“A curse. A professor. A dangerous piece of art and the students who made it.”

Progress: 16%

Initial Thoughts: Slow-burn and richly written. Not sure if I love it yet, but the concept and style have me hooked enough to keep going.
📱 Kindle Read

The Thursday Murder Club by Richard Osman

“In a peaceful retirement village, four unlikely friends meet weekly to solve unsolved murders.”

Progress: Chapter 5

Initial Thoughts: Cozy, clever, and funny. Joyce is already stealing the show. It’s giving British humor and murder mystery in the same breath. Like Agatha Christie with more sass.

The fire crackles. The brandy warms. The raven waits. What will the next chapter bring?
